Try buying the same brand of soundbar as your TV. Sometimes the IR volume control are the same. My Roku is able to control my Vizio TV and Vizio soundbar.

Newer TVs will allow its remote to control the fire stick. Not bad if you need this but probably for older TVs.

Will this work with the $200 BF 58" Insignia from BB? It's labeled as "Fire TV Edition". It already has a power and volume buttons. Having channel +/- as well as an input button would be nice.

Only if you wanted to control the tv or a different device. I don’t think the Apple TV app let’s you change volume either.
