Yep, and there are cheaper "4k" options doing what the P1 does. To emphasize that it's 4k, could mislead people into paying more for tech that could be had for less. Why do I have to be a snob? I'm...

Didn't say it was native. People just throw around faux K like it means anything that isn't a native 4k chip, when that isn't the case. Epson and early JVC shifters where faux K because they only...

It's not native. Not in this price range.

They are true 4k, not faux K. There is a difference. Epson 4k enhanced is faux k. This and other 4x shifters are True 4k.

Right, also the number of votes is the total after you subtract all the thumbs down. As I write this it has a rating of zero (it doesn't actually tell you the number of votes, just the percentages of...

I think popular just means a lot of people visiting the thread

There is no native 4k for laser UST in this price range. They are all faux k. Sony has a native UST 4k for $22k.

Why are there 3 votes. It's like throwing in a free bag of Doritos when you buy a regularly priced Mercedes.

You may be right. I actually meant smaller. I think there is a bigger chip which does native 4K.

Gotcha. Thanks to you (and the two people above you) for clearing that up.

I doubt it's older. Isn't this the 2nd generation of the 0.47 XPR chip? And I doubt they're using the 1st Gen with the bigger halo like all those viewsonic woot projectors people were buying. I would...

That's not true. Laser is the light source. It does not mean anything in terms of resolution. The display chip here is an older DLP and it has a native resolution of 1080p with pixel shifting to get...

It's a shifter. When they use the term XPR in describing the chip, it means it's a shifter.

Not 100% sure, but pretty sure you can... in any event, the P1 AFAIK does not use pixel shifting... but also isn't native 4k (it's using a native 1080 chip that doesn't do shifting, but I think it...

I personally would recommend the Q70R or Q90R in most cases over the Q80R (unless off axis viewing is particularly important or are in a particularly bright room... in which case I'd probably go with...

It's a laser, so pretty sure it's true 4K. I don't think you can do pixel shifting with a laser.

Is this true 4K or that double pixel technology stuff?

FWIW, anyone considering this should probably check out avsforums for the thread over there. I bought one from the first batch that was delivered in October and was pretty unimpressed with the...

Screen picture quality on flagship TVs is rarely a noticeable upgrade in year over year models. Take into account LG OLED (which Sony uses).. roughly the same panel tech is used for the last 4 years....
