Just get DDR4-3200 C14 / C16, or DDR4-3600 with C16 / C18 timings. Either one is fine. The single-digit gains for $300 ram kits do not matter unless you're in your parents basement and are obsessed...

This ram came with my recent purchase of the Skytech Chronos build. I never used it. Just took it out and replaced it with 2x16 gb sticks. Willing to sell the ram cheaper than this. If anyone is...

You're into somewhat uncharted territory with this combo, the sticking point is that the g.skill qvl is likely based on the 2nd gen Ryzen processors and only goes up to 3466, where of course you want...

It’s actually meaning the xmp profiles are for AMD. Ryzen is picky about which ram it’s using. However, don’t just trust this “For AMD” ram will run at proper speeds on your Ryzen setup. Still check...

I'm looking to get ram for my rig. I have a 3900x on a Asus rog strix x470-f. I tried reading up on timings but ultimately I'm just confused. I game/stream on it. I am actually buying ram to replace...

Pretty sure the RGB RAM that came in the Skytech Chronos is Team T-force Delta RGB running at 3000, not this Gskill kit.

Okay guys, just buy e-die if you want to overclock. Some ppl just want rgb at high clocks out of the box

"timing belt"? I think you might be conflating CAS latency with car parts. That aside, yeah this isn't a great deal for this RAM (2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz with CAS Latency of 18). You're basically...

For tuning, there's a handy app that will help with timings. Search for "Ryzen Dram Calculator" and check out some of the videos on it. On the recommendation, do you care if it has a LED heat...

This is OK, middle of the road performance ram. - RGB (meh) - QVL for almost all Z390 and X570 boards - 3600 clock is pretty good, runs well on x570 and scales on Z390 - Timing is OK but not...

These appear to be Hynix C-die. These will tune to C16 1T on a compatible motherboard or better and should overclock to 3733Mhz at least with very minor voltage bumps. Your measured latency will be...

Too pricy IMO. You're better off with this kit or you can get a similar kit but double the capacity for about $30 to $40 more. Example (I've used this brand before, they are decent):...

Not 100% accurate. For gaming purposes, pure memory bandwidth is more important than latency — even more so if you’re running an APU that relies on the bandwidth for graphics performance. 3600MHz...

A couple things here. 1. You’re paying a premium for RGB, so there’s no reason to be overthinking Value to performance ratio here. If people want performance they shouldn’t be getting RGB kits, ...

This is an interesting post. So are you saying that for ryzen gen 2, the ideal is to have the RAM run at 3466 with the tightest possible timings and for Ryzen Gen 3, you want it to run at 3600...

If you are buying g.skill, you want something that shows up on their QVL for your MB.

Exactly, I bought 3200Mhz 2x16gb CL14 sticks which didn’t have xmp profiles for my Ryzen 2700x, took me a long time to find stable settings. Kept getting BSOD’s till I got there

3600/18 is more or less the same as 3200/16, right? And if these are Hynix CJR, CJR is supposed to be decent. Not B-die, but not bad. Put it this way...my Corsair CJR rated at 3200/16 will do...

Ok, to clear the air - ram doesn't need heat spreaders. You don't need RGB, it looks like a unicorn vomited a rainbow over a box of crayons. Ok, now to seriousness. Heat spreaders are AWESOME!...

Why does it say "For AMD"? This is RAM. Will it not work on Intel platforms?
Post #134468411 added 01-23-2020 6:50 AM by GertHeart in Deal Talk
This RAM isn't a good deal for what it offers. Not only is the price higher than it should be, the timing belt is CL 18 18-22-22. It's not a good deal for the clock latency. I've been getting annoyed...

If you don't care about RGB I would go with this personally: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232907 $149 If you think 16GB is enough,...

I thought the deal was for 32gb. Yeah not too great of a deal for 16gb. You can get 16gb 3000 for roughly $50 3200 is a bit more

I had to replace the timing belt once. It was so difficult getting inside the ram stick to access the little bugger, had to use a microscope and tweezers. ((all in good fun))

For normal use no, but for people overclocking at upwards of 2v dram voltage or who are running 1.5v daily they are needed. Sometimes even active cooling. But yeah, 99% of people don't need them.

QVLs are horribly outdated after the release of the motherboard. The manufacturer rarely updates them.

I'm an Intel guy, but from what I understand the memory bus (infinity fabric?) on 3rd gen Ryzen works well with 3600 or 3733mhz memory, though you can also use faster memory. I was answering a...
