This isn’t the 1990s anymore. Japan has been making top quality guitars for some time now. Definitely on par with the CNC-based MIA stuff for the most part.

You are right and since Fender bought Gretsch they have really stepped up quality, If the guitar maker specs better materials and higher QC it isn't as important where they are built, wood and wire...

The higher end takamine guitars are all made in japan. They are expensive but cheaper then flagship Martin's and Taylor's and are an amazing value in the high end acoustic world.
