Because most android tv apps work on 32bit just fine and by the time you really want 64bit apps, you will want to toss out your old shield. Which will be at least 4 or so years from now.

Shield is a cast target. You can not cast to a Firestick as far as I understand it. That's a pretty big capability this has over the Firestick for anyone who has gotten used to the joys of casting....
