Yup. The software and the mats have a grid design on them. You design what you want and cut the vinyl then line it up to the grid and cut. You get real efficient with vinyl:)

You should get the air. The joy is cute and portable but if it’s your first machine I would definitely recommend the air (or maker if you plan on needing it to cut fabric)
