Only for use on guns you hate. For gunsmith welding, you'll want a TIG machine and a class on how to use it.

Youtube can teach you. I'm not very good, but after watching youtube videos I can make two pieces of metal stick together using my cheap HF welder. Practice well improve the quality of your welds.

Yes, welding is not something you can learm from watching videos. It's more dangerous than most DIY activities and takes training and practice to learn to make a good weld.

Steel. You can weld aluminum with a mig welder, but you need a spool gun and different gas than what steel requires.

This is both AC and DC for different applications. We even use the DC side for thawing frozen metal pipes. But, for most people, your Mig is great if only going to have one welder for occasional use.
