To use those other services, you just need some sort of ethernet to MOCA bridge; it doesn't need to be Verizon's. One of these will do the job just fine.

For others that may want to try, this works for internet only... If you have TV, you won't have channel guides. If you have phone, it won't work period.

Apparently, Verizon isn't doing in-home installs at the moment. They told me when I signed up for the 200mb @ $39.99 promotion. It has been over a month now and still now ETA on my ONT upgrade.
