I assume the two black wires on the left go to a power supply. They won't be used with the Rachio (it has its own power supply). The white wire is Common, and the colored wires connected to numbered...

As a heads up......check your WiFi at your current sprinkler timer before buying. It it’s in your garage, your WiFi may not be good. If it’s not good there, you can definitely have issues. ...

I just installed a Rachio Gen 2, 16 zone system over an older system. The older system had 110V AC power going into the same box that had the 24V wires going to the valves. A contractor had to cut...

My understanding is that you can't reprogram from the box, you have to have connectivity to the cloud service to reprogram. Is that correct?

That's correct. There are only controls at the box to do manual control of each zone. But for the Orbit unit you linked to, that appears to be the case there as well. I have seen claims in reviews...

Their app suck. Rain machine has lots of manual mode. For eg you want to add extra 5 mins on the zone you are already running. Not possible in rachio.

Not true. You can select zones, and start/stop manual cycles at the controller without the app. The lights also indicate which zone is running, and are used to communicate error conditions.
