What kind of gauge should I be looking to get for someone just starting out their tools collection? I might build some cabinets and some other small pieces. Nothing like a kitchen table or dresser.

As mentioned before if you don't have a nail gun and want to do general trim work and other woodworking assembly you probably want to start with 18ga, the 23ga pin nailer is great for holding pieces...

Most of the refurbished products I got from them were actually new. I can't speak about their customer service though because never needed to contact them.

I'm trying to make same decision. I've had good experience with DTO pre-owned but wondering if I just spend the extra $30(when you include shipping) for a new one. I'm not sure how often non-battery...

I'm using it to secure some wood quarter round floor moulding to the baseboard. They are surprisingly strong for being so thin, as long as you use several. I just got a 16 gauage finish nailer as...

For cabinets and lighter items 18gauge would probably suffice along with some screws.

Yeah, these pins are tiny. It would only work for installing very thin trim.

Been waiting on a deal on the pin nailer forever since it almost never goes on sale at HD. How are the preowned tools from Direct Tools Outlet, and what is their service like? I'm reading mixed...

Pins are headless and not meant for permanent attachment. You might get away with them for quarter-round if you're also caulking it in, but generally you should use 18 gauge brads for that. For...

16 or 18. I have the Ryobi 16 gauge and it is by far one of my most used tools. From its actual intended use to just tacking stuff into place until I place screws in things I love it. was able to...

I wouldn't recommend for trim. A nail gun is one of the few items I would never consider buying refurb, I've had to send stuff back to DTO but they were easy to work with.

Check the size before you buy. I don't think you want a pin nailer for trim. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
