The monitor, however, can only do what the port allows. A lot of monitors are only capable of 144hz through display port at 1440

idk why down votes... I have this issues with my latest LG 27GL650F-B - if I connect it to my macbook 2005 via hdmi it caps ot lower res and 60hz but if I use display port it goes up up 1440.

I have this monitor! This monitor has (2) HDMI ports (1.4 and 2.0). The 1.4 one is limited to 75Hz and the 2.0 can achieve the maximum 144Hz.

Can one get a HDMI to display port adapter? Would that work? Good point. Mine only does 144Hz on displayport which won't work very well with Xbox. Didn't think about that. Bummer.

Do you miss the proper HDR support? I got two of the 27GL63T-B.AUS. So far happy, but wish it had wide color gamut. That's the only thing I feel I miss other than maybe USB-C support.
