Much better IMO. Kafka is one of my favorites of his. 1Q84 was a long epic that was good but I agree, dragged in places.

I read this when it came out and my impression of it then was that it was a too-similar (and inferior) Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, but clearly a lot of people like this one, so I dunno. I do recommend...
