There are free streaming apps. I listen to comedy fairly frequently. You can download podcasts and series. I haven't seen the value in the rather expensive Audible subscription myself.

New music exists, FYI, and there's a decent amount you can still listen to with Prime Music (if you have Prime). I'll bet there's good "old" music that you probably haven't heard yet too.
