Yes, it did for me. I bought the doorbell 2 w/ protect plus from Costco. When my spotlight went out they replaced it under the plan.

From what I've read - when the doorbell rings a mechanical chime, it's not connected to power for a split second. The internal battery keeps it running during that time, regardless of the transformer...

The plan is attached to that device. You will need to activate the device to use the plan in your Ring account. Once you deactivate the device, the plan will be gone as well.
