Large file transfer. My primary use is recording via shadowplay, 20minute 4K clips @130mbps. They average ~18GB each and the saving process scales really well with high end drives.

How does that matter? Look at the numbers, 3500 mega bytes. Do you think you will move that number in a second outside of synthetic benchmarks? Once upon a time storage was the bottle neck. Now it’s...

Not that great of a deal unless for some reason you need PCI-E 4.0. WD Black drives go for around this same price on sale and I'm guessing WD is going to try to get rid of their PCI-E 3.0 Black...

The C in SLC/MLC/TLC/QLC stands for "cell" rather than "cache," it's indicating how many bits per cell there are, like you said. It's a worthwhile distinction because there are plenty of QLC drives...

What's a use case for nvme 4.0? Everything I've read said it's complete overkill. Genuinely curious.

You probably won't notice it over a good nvme PCI-E 3.0 SSD. Keep in mind your laptop needs to support PCI-E 4.0 as well to take advantage of the full speed.

On the fence about this one. Don’t know to much about QLC vs the TLC and how much of 4.0 being either overkill or marginally better than 3.0. Any other deals out there that’s more recommended?

The drive would actually need to be 7GB/s. I promise this won't be on it. The new Sabrent, WD, and Samsung should be compatible, but just wait for the official list from Sony

QLC is slower, slows down greatly after drive is over 80% full, and is less reliable (fails sooner). If you're spending this kind of money I believe you would be better off with a pcie 3.0 TLC drive.
