Dedicated scanners are more for convenience with scanning multiple documents, of different sizes, in seconds. The all-in-one you linked scans in a few minutes and it lacks duplex scanning.

The most obvious reason is if you need to scan multiple pages. I'm not sure if a dedicated document scanner is any better than a doc scanner on an AIO but it looks to take up less room.

I have had an adf scanner since the 10 i think. It was pretty much working until the day it went to the heep. I think it even had DOS software. It was scsi based and i used it until windows 98ish....
