If you want a higher quality and brighter screen, you need to pay extra for higher end models. Don't expect that a $500 Laptop to come with a powerful Processor, nice build quality, 1080P IPS...

Then this one is okay for you. However, if you want to keep your laptop for 5+ years, I will recommend you to get the 8 ore 4700U. But the type of work you've described, this will be fine.

You mean DP-Alt mode. It should also be mentioned that any dock not TB or DP will cost CPU power and will not perform as well.

It shouldn't matter. The dock is USB based, doesn't rely on PD-Alt modes and not TB. I have 3 of the same docks at work used with different generation Intel CPUs and none of them had issues.
