Where do Ryobi tools fall in the hierarchy of quality? Top tier seems to alternate between: Bosch, Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Makita depending on the tool. Mid tier comprises brands like Ridgid and...

Unless you plan on needing to make very rough cuts/demolition work, I would avoid bundles that include a reciprocating saw for a beginning DIYer or woodworker, and instead opt for a more precision...

Not really. It's the low, low, strippo end models of the Ryobi line with the weaniest battery, charger, saw and drill that Ryobi makes.

Most homeowners do need to take some things apart - like old pipes, old paneling, a non-load bearing wall or weather exposed siding. That is where the reciprocating saw will come in very handy.

That little P505 circular saw is actually pretty good for tearing down 2x material when paired with a 3Ah or better battery. Really light and blade left for a right-hander like me is great for quick...

The $209 4 brushless tool combo deal with free circular saw would be a much better deal. You will regret not getting brushless ones a couple years down the road. The only bad thing with that combo is...

I would skip this. Cordless circular saws are not the way to go. Unless you're talking a $200+ saw. Just save the money and get a 15amp corded saw.

If you don't have other option, the recip saw would work great on tree branches. I also picked up a 10 blade kit with various length and for cutting different materials with my recip saw. Chain saw...

It depends on what we are talking about. I have a $150 magnesium based magnetic brake corded saw for precision. However, for a plumber entering a house that will cut one stud to place backing in a...

SMDH... Unless I'm blind nowhere on "HDs" web page for this kit does it provide the consumer (You) the blade size of the circular saw. Sure you can indepdently search the model #, but you shouldn't...

I agree that this is a good starter set but I would recommend getting a bigger battery pack when the batteries go on sale. I have the circular saw and it runs much better on the 4AH battery versus...

I think I got this same set with an extra battery, a carrying bag, and a flashlight for $130. I think that was a much better deal. That having been said, I appreciate that there's an even lower...

The 1.5ah battery will frustrate the hell out of you when using the circular saw. They're fine for the drill though. I would buy a bigger better battery to use on the saw.

This is basically market rate for these tools, the worst that Ryobi makes in each of these categories.

I highly recommend the 199 combo that's also on sale. Very complete set. As you grow, you might want to change out the circular saw for a 6.5 or 7 in. But this set is very good investment.

Even the smallest chainsaw or pruning saw is going to be better for branches, than a reciprocating saw. Now it will work, but the chainsaw is much better about pulling out cut material, particularly...

The recip saw in this kit is okay to cut branches, you can get longer blades as those are standard, Diablo is a good brand (not the best, but def. the best value) for blades, but the main thing is...

That kit looks more practical, it includes a 4ah battery as well, so you can actually use those saws. The impact driver is a huge bonus, as is the multi tool. Just make sure you use the correct...

I've said this before and I will say it on this deal: FWIW - I love Ryobi and HD in general. I own a number of tools from them and have completed dozens if not hundreds of projects including...

Literally everything. Drilling wood and metal, driving screws, takes lug nuts off cars, I do a lot of kitchens, so I love the 1.5ah or 2ah battery for it for fatigue and space, its easier to hold a...

For demolition work isn't a reciprocating saw much more useful? It's faster than a jigsaw and you can start cuts deeper and easier than a circular saw
Post #142110614 added 11-11-2020 11:02 AM by BrrFeelsShillyInHere in Deal Talk
Yes, sorry if my wording was poor. Don’t buy a reciprocating saw, UNLESS you need to do demolition work. But the average DIY/homeowner/woodworker is focused on building things, not taking them apart.

Look for a black Friday deal on Makita or Milwaukee from home depot. They usually have some descent prices for a drill, or drill/driver combo around this time of year. You can't really go wrong...
