A lot of DOCSIS 3.0 has the intel puma chipset which causes a lot of issues. If you find a modem without it like the CM600, you should be fine for people who doesn’t have 1gig network speed.

I pull ~1940mbps on a 2gig cable connection through mine. You have to use LAG and have a router that will LAG into a 2.5 or 10g line and commensurate hardware on your PC, but the modem is plenty fast.

I have the same issue. I'm sure for my case, it's the modem as I've changed to a better router and a switch. The other day it lost downstream lock while no one else in the area had lost internet.
