I built a stand once for a large aquarium, it wasn’t exactly level (and I mean exactly) and after about six months one of the seams split and dumped the entire amount of water on to my floor.

I had the same problem too in my apartment - and the cause is because of "torque" or twisting. Your aquarium corners did not touch the corners of your table. I have had titled (to the right)...
