Recommend the AcuaClear HOB filter to go with it. They are near silent, easy to maintain, and last forever. Also suggest to get a hinged glass top if you want to keep the heat in (and the fish).

I've had several tanks from 10 to 250 gallons, from fresh water planted to community fish and salt water. The easiest setup would be 10 gallon tank for beta, no filter, no heat, no air pump needed.
