I think you're right, once it's outside the manufacturer's warranty (and not for Applecare beyond AC's already-existing fees). So if you actually NEED to file a claim, it might come out to the same...

Total Tech Support is $200/year. It looks like most of it hasn't changed, but the warranty is new. It includes a priority Customer Service line and some free/discounted services, like car electronics...

It looks like there is Service Fee for each claim for Best Buy Protection plan which I don’t think geek squad protection plan has.
