Fidelity card may not be so bad if it forces you to invest a bit. I had a Schwab card for a couple of years and had to do a Schwab brokerage for the cash back the same way and it grew nicely. Schwab...

Thank you for that link. The redemption restrictions are a big NO for me. It looks like even if you have $25.50, you can only redeem $25.00 whereas with other credit cards, once you go over the...

I have had no problems with points expiring. I don't use it alot but it is connected to my PirateShip account so every month there is some activity. I have had a Fidelity account for ages so it is...
Thats likely the reason for first converting pure cashback to points and later devalue points. Just like they earlier removed most shopping benefits.
I think they are probably doing it to create a reason for people who have other cards with Thank You points to also get Double Cash and vice versa. Chase is really good at this with Freedom and...
Can you expand on point #6? I don't understand it: "6. I have a nice 40K+ credit limit with citi double cash. Very nice to have when it comes to paying federal taxes - I get free use of the money...
You can pay taxes with your credit card and they charge slightly less than 2% fee but since the card generates 2%, the fee is covered. But if I charge on Apr 13, then it gets billed on the next...
A little more civility would be nice in this too harsh world of ours. How about saying “I think you misunderstand” rather than “You need to go back to math class.”

I got the letter in mail last night with the same information. I do think it shouldn't change anything that we receive as it's still 2% regardless of the $ or Points. So we should be all good.

It's 1% back on spend plus 1% back on payments. Not 2% on spend. Get your facts straight if you're gonna sling insults.

Thanks op. I think this is noteworthy as it's potentially an indication of additional requirements for redemption or even worse dilution... as long as I can apply for statement credit with no...
A few months ago I was trying to convert DC to Custom Cash and they would not let me. Multiple threads on reddit about failed attempts. Has anything changed since this change?
Everyone's redemption preference is obviously different, but this is exactly what I've been doing for a while (i.e., converting double cash earnings to ThankYou points). I use the TY points when they...

If this is anything like other cards, forcing people into Points is step 1. For now it's equivalent. Step 2 is lowering the value of the points over time. Right now 100 points = $1. In the future I'm...
They closed my '03 dbl cash card for non use. Back then it was Diamond Preferred.
Ain't no one want your crap gift cards. We want cold hard cash.

How much would you earn on 2% cashback on $500?

How sure are we 1000 = $10? I know some cards are 1000 = $5 when redeeming for cash or credit back

holy hell, i can see why we're in such dire shape on a much larger scale. i swear 8/10 people don't read (or have poor comprehension if they do) and don't look up things that are simple to find. ...
Can any of these partner transfers be converted into cold hard cash? I don't want no stinking air miles or hotel nights. I just want greenback.

for now dilution of points may be in the future I would not be surprised if that happens. Citi isnt doing this to benefit us. It is to benefit them. They are all untrustworthy.

You can redeem ThankYou points for a statement credit, direct deposit, or a physical mailed check, so literally nothing changes. This works out good for me as I have the newish Citi Custom Cash...
No taxable or roth? Roth is way better than 401k unless you get 100% match. Most of us make way too much to only have a 401k.
As others here have said, this is much ado about nothing from the OP. You can still transfer thank you points for cash at the exact same rate as before. This has been confirmed by Citi.

How sure are we 1000 = $10? I know some cards are 1000 = $5 when redeeming for cash or credit back
For those of you that have way too much faith in credit card companies, you need to understand that the company, at their discretion (i.e. quarterly earnings reports), can easily "revalue" points or...

Yup and for folks who have premium citi cards this makes getting MORE than 1 cent a point out of the doublecash even easier (either via partner transfers or leveraging things like 4th night free...

http://www.citi.com/citidoublecashupdates Yeah, seems like a small improvement actually. Still earn the same (unless they devalue points someday), more options to redeem and no minimum.

Two comments - 1) I have same card but didnt get the email (yet) 2) You need to go back to math class. Under current system, if I spend $500, I get 2% back = $500 x 0.02 = $10 Under new...

Hahah I know treating points vs actual cash back redemption. What’s the difference, same crap 2% in the end
This is a non-issue. Value of points vs straight up cash back are identical.
Got an email today from Citibank about the changes announced for the Citi Double Cash card cashback system. Now instead of earning the 2% cashback and be able to redeem always as cash, you will earn,...

You will earn ThankYou Points which you can redeem for a bunch of options, including cash at the same redemption rate as before.
10 / 500 = 0.02 = 2%
