When you make plan changes, I think you have the option of selecting the timing of the change - immediate or with the next cycle. At least they had that when I was changing plans on another account...

IMO, unless you need hotspot, you probably won't need it. If you are deprioritized, it is probably by AT&T customers, and not other Cricket higher tier customers.
