It would be a no-brainer for me if I could get it for $250.

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply with data to back it up. Much appreciated!

For gaming it'd definitely be a significant upgrade. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-7950x3d/22.html Even at 4k it's like a 20% jump in gaming 3900x to 5800X3D- at 1440 even...

I have a Ryzen7 2700 with an RX 570 GPU. It sounds, from comments, that this should be the CPU to aim for for general game longevity. What GPU should I be looking for to keep in the same AM4...

That's true in many esp. older games where frame rates were already crazy high with anything... but a few of the games he tested fps even with the X3D didn't have framerates >120. Cities for...

My min FPS and 1% lows improved over my 5900x and gaming feels a lot smoother. I might skip the 7000 x3d's because it's still good.

I have to keep reminding myself that the 5800X3D is a pretty pointless "upgrade" over my 5800X at 4K. If I was still gaming at 1080p it'd be worthwhile.

Indeed, but 1440p Ultra wide is most likely GPU limited. The 6700XT isn't going to cut it for high fps. So, a higher end GPU is needed as well if pairing with the 5800X3D or AM5.

https://youtu.be/sw97hj18OUE There's a section at the end where it shows the gains from the 5800 vs the x3d. Basically, you'd need to have a monitor capable of more than 120 Hz and play your games...

5800X3D has been around this price for a bit. That being said...If you're on AM4 and trying to squeeze longevity out of your hardware, this processor hangs with even the newer 7950X3D and...

Edited my post to add one showing the 4090 finally making CPU matter again at 4k. I agree with a 3080 you're not going to care (though you certainly might at 1440p depending on game) but sometimes...

I've not seen any tests with 4090, but the guy asking the question said 3080 10gb. I've seen many tests on that setup and the charts say there is no difference
Post #161978467 added 02-27-2023 1:43 PM by Knightshade in Deal Talk
Well, you couldn't. The 4090 finally fixes that, and I saw a significant performance bump in 4k/ultra games going from a 3600x to a 5800X3D. For any previous cards though you'll need to drop...

Not unless you play the few games where the X3D is noticeably better. At high res, you'll be GPU bound. If you check for online tests where they have same PC and compare only the CPU, all those tests...

Anybody want to buy my 5800x haha
Post #161976676 added 02-27-2023 12:26 PM by nicetryop in Deal Talk
Yes. The 5600g already has less cache than the standard 5600x so huge improvement. The g versions only really good for the Vega graphics and lower price
