I have other cash backs that are more. Spend 750 at Versace get more than 20 back. But you don’t need Versace like you need groceries. Supermarket is as practical as it gets

They can't. I've done it numerous times with other cards or to meet a spending limit for a new card bonus. Never had a problem. They can't see the physical receipt.

I buy gift cards at Kroger all the time with my gold card and always get the 4x for groceries. I assume this would be the same. It just shows a charge for Kroger they have no clue what you bought

The only problem people have is buying cash equivalent gift cards, such as a Visa gift card. No problem buying other gift cards.
