It can help if you use DHCP reservation on your router to give the printer / computer consistent ip addresses. That said, it's been a long time since I've had the scan to PC buttons on a scanner work...

To add to jkee's response, plug into the back of your PC so you know you're directly plugged into the motherboard and not some case ports...
That said, sounds like you confirmed the USB port works...
