It's not just you, the results can be frustrating. The search was entirely replaced due to necessary updates and with the goal of making it better. It's not there yet, but the search team is working...

Somewhat related, but when I search on a desktop browser, all results (including expired deals) show up. But when I search via a mobile browser, it appears only deals that are not marked as expired...

I'll add to this - searching for a specific product or keyword used to bring up hundreds of results. Now I frequently get five or ten at most, half of which aren't even relevant.
