Settings is no longer available on Ghostery.
I ended up in using uBlock Origin
So I am using both now!

UBlock lite didn't block the google annoyance on Firefox.
But uBlock origin did it.

"Hide placeholders of blocked elements" is the first settings - and is checked - it is still doing - this is the only reason I am keeping Ghostery.

Don't use two content blockers at the same time. They compete with each other and don't function as intended. Look it up.
I think uBO is better, so go with that only.
