If the magnetic field is strong enough then yes a magnet of that magnitude might not wipe a HDD through "2 feet of reinforced concrete" but it could cause enough disk corruption to where the videos...

No absolutely not. Look at the way hard drives are built, there's no way you can shatter those platters by flinging it.
Everything around the harddrive (the laptop) cushions the drive itself....

This completely wouldn't work.
You need to smear the bits around by moving the hard-drive "across/back n forth" the magnetic field.
