Be careful, you own a GM product and that extra weight will bring your rear-view mirror crashing down.
Come to think of it, on Chevy's, the weight of the mirror alone will bring it down.

Had one fall off on a 90 454SS and a 85 K1500. And once it starts, the glue from Autozone etc. only lasts about couple of years approx. With no additonal weight attached.

I know that you can also get a smaller flat wire for the detector and run it between the glass and the ceiling-liner so it won't show, but that's a couple more $$$
