Unless the dealer is very inconvenient, go there every 3K miles for free. Much better deal. You can have them add a quart of the royal purple at each oil change for your own synthetic blend.

Nope, you don't need to drain anything. Just take the filter off (use a drain pan - some oil will come out), put the new filter on, and top off your oil. Simple! True, it only takes 5 minutes...

No you shouldn't. Switching to synthetic now will provably clean up the engine, but also the old, dried up oil that is blocking the leaks. From removal, it will cause you to leak more oil.
