I'll pile on to say "a classic"... and to agree with others who added Berserk (try the newer 3-part animated movies, ends pretty gruesome), Samurai Chompoo (much lighter, funny). Other good ones...

I would also recommend Wicked City as another 'classic'...Everyone forgets about Wicked City. Also not for kids are there is a 'tentacle' scene.
