I sometimes wonder about timing belt replacements. i.e what would prevent a shop from simply taking car into garage for couple hours, do nothing with car and return to owner?

If you just go by the Honda maintenance reminder though, it doesn't include everything you should do. For example, you should change the spark plugs and serpentine belt given your mileage.

Misinformation. Manufacturers DO NOT and CANNOT "void" warranties due to non-dealer performed services within the warranty period. It is illegal. I take my Japanese cars to independents from Day 1.
