Only for data not in the 32gb cache area - thats SSD speed. Its why when you watch testing the stock drive is say 24 seconds to load the game, sshd is 15 seconds and SSD is 14 seconds. It all depends...

You are correct. The controller is sata 1 but the 5400 rpm drive is sata 2. It does over 100MBps. The sata 1 capped at 150MBps.

Honestly, a 3.5" 7200 can be had for only a few $ more. If I am buying one of these likely it is for a desktop, because in a laptop it would just be a waste of energy.

Yes the article I read was wrong. However I think the lx is the previous version that the dx firecuda replaced. Perhaps it's more efficient at tiering hot data so needs less cache.
