Totally agree on this point. I bought mine for long travel flights, especially to help fall asleep, but they are quite bulky and would recommend the in-ear if you sleep/lean on the side of your head.

Think it has to do with receiving calls. If you have an Android you want an Android based one. If you bought the Apple version it wouldn't be compatible for taking calls on your Android.

Minor thought - if you lean against the sides of the seats, the over the ear headphones may not be the comfiest. And if you typically sit by the window, leaning against it will send the vibrations...

I wouldn't want to go refurbished on such a personal item. From Bose's description, it doesn't look like the ear pads and other surfaces that come in contact with the user's skin or hair are replaced...
