One thing to note is that HF will often carry different "tiers" of items - for example, look at air-powered impact wrenches on their website. The cheapest model is apparently absolute crap (according to reviews) and often goes for as little as $15-20, whereas the 1/2" Earthquake model is $75-80 with coupon and is very well reviewed. Same goes for their air compressors - most are crap, a few slightly more expensive ones are good. Keep in mind that the more expensive items are still very competitively priced, but don't expect to get an item that'd be $200 at Home Depot for $20 at Harbor Freight and expect exactly the same quality.

Ok, I partially agree with you, but I have found their power tool's are a good value and work just fine if you know how to use the tool in the first place. I bought a 10" sliding power miter saw in 2003. I built a 4000 square foot house with it, and it preformed flawlessly, just use the right blade for the job at hand and it was all good. The same saw worked as a second saw at another house build in 2009, it cut 12,000 board feet of cedar with precision. I killed it after cutting cement driveway paver's on the same house the next year, so all in all that saw rocked! it cost me $79 and it paid for itself 5x over. You do get what you pay for, but I think you get a bit more with the harbor freight tool than I get anywhere else. Except for a slick deal at 90% off! The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

This week's "extra savings" have the desirable 2.5 ton steel jack for $75.
http://images.harborfreight.com/cpi/.../images/19.jpg It's a lot more jack for the money than the smaller 3 ton, which now goes for $70 with a coupon. |
