Can anyone comment on the quality of their power tools? Looking at getting a mitre saw from them.
x2 on their power tools being seimi-disposable. Plan on having some that you will get lucky with, and many you won't. Example: my angle grinder created a short in the cord because the guage of the wire was too thin for the current draw, so I replaced the cord and can't seem to kill it. The back room of my local store is filled with returned power tools, and I mean a lot. For something like a miter saw where precision and quality is paramount, I wouldn't buy one.

Does anyone know if you can order through phone and still use the 20% off code?
If you're trying to use the one in the Wiki it states "Coupon not valid for... 800 number orders or online orders." Not sure if there are any out there that are worded otherwise but I haven't seen one yet.

I see it's on sale for $99.99 (down from $149.99) on the site currently. Pair that with 20% off and you're at $79.99. Not sure if you're going to find it a whole lot cheaper than that but I suppose it's possible.

I have a bunch of harbor freight power tools and haven't found them any worse than entry-level tools from other big box stores.

Most of the power tools HFT sells are sold under various brand names by lots of smaller stores.

Going to agree with the previous posts, especially regarding the miter saw quality\durability and also that they can be set up for fairly accurate results but at a cost (trial and error). I've used my brother's 12" HF and it's not as accurate or "tight" as my 10" Hitachi (it did still have the stock blade on it though). As Squirt mentioned above, if you want something for rough framing type work that will also handle cutting through a 6 x 6 it's a pretty good choice for $135.99 ($169.99 and a 20% off Q). Although I haven't used the 10" HF model I would expect it to be of the same quality. I have included a Q for it @ $82.99 - good until 9/9/2012. Overall, if you need either a real precise saw or a real durable one that can be hauled around in the back of a truck every day, you may not want these. If, on the other hand, you need something that will be for general purposes and that won't be "man-handled" then, with a decent blade on it, I think these would work very nicely. FWIW...

One thing to note is that HF will often carry different "tiers" of items - for example, look at air-powered impact wrenches on their website. The cheapest model is apparently absolute crap (according to reviews) and often goes for as little as $15-20, whereas the 1/2" Earthquake model is $75-80 with coupon and is very well reviewed. Same goes for their air compressors - most are crap, a few slightly more expensive ones are good. Keep in mind that the more expensive items are still very competitively priced, but don't expect to get an item that'd be $200 at Home Depot for $20 at Harbor Freight and expect exactly the same quality.

In a word: Meh.

In most cases, the tool will get the job done, but they should be considered semi-disposable. I used to have a HF sliding/compound miter saw, and it actually worked OK, but I ended up selling it and buying a higher quality name-brand saw, because I just couldn't get the accurate cuts I was looking for with the HF saw. If you're looking for something quick and cheap that will do the job(angle-cutting studs for framing, some exterior trim, etc), you probably won't be disappointed. If you're looking for professional results with the tool doing the work, I recommend looking elsewhere and investing more money. You _can_ get decent results for things like interior trim, but it will take you 3 times longer, and you'll generate a lot more scrap, than if you invest in a higher quality tool. Another note.... The blade can make a world of difference with a miter saw. Definitely do your homework and buy the right blade for the job you're doing.

Ok, I partially agree with you, but I have found their power tool's are a good value and work just fine if you know how to use the tool in the first place. I bought a 10" sliding power miter saw in 2003. I built a 4000 square foot house with it, and it preformed flawlessly, just use the right blade for the job at hand and it was all good. The same saw worked as a second saw at another house build in 2009, it cut 12,000 board feet of cedar with precision. I killed it after cutting cement driveway paver's on the same house the next year, so all in all that saw rocked! it cost me $79 and it paid for itself 5x over.

You do get what you pay for, but I think you get a bit more with the harbor freight tool than I get anywhere else.

Except for a slick deal at 90% off!

Haven't followed the price on this, rarely see a coupon. Looked in hot roding, diesel, bagged, home machinist,... no luck. Both it and the stand are on sale though.
