I have been looking for a 49" ultraswide monitor for awhile. I love to have a G9 but it was the price that kept me from pulling the trigger. I just checked this morning and the EDP price dropped to $1,134 from $1,250 just a few days ago. It's not the lowest, I believe it was $1,050 during thanksgiving week for EDP. But for only about $100 ~ $300 more from other options (CRG9, AOC, Monoprice Dark Matter), I think it's well worth it to get the G9.

there's 6% cashback also...

not sure how to get the EDP pricing though. I see the student/teacher discount there but that has to be verified.

I've been keeping an eye one these so I can buy my fourth one. Third time wasn't the charm.

First one was dropped from about 6 feet up off the Fedex truck in front of me.
Second one had constant popping noises, dirt in between the glass in 2 different places, and a flickering dimming zone.
Third one had a dead pixel middle center of the screen. Popping was barely there. Only when turning on HDR.

I'll probably wait 2 or 3 months before getting number 4. Or if it goes under $1,000. Whichever comes first.

Good share OP! I just freaking picked up the CRG90 for $1199 from microcenter today then saw your post. Now I'm torn if I open that or go with this one for a little less. I do like the connectivity on the CRG more but think the G9 is the better monitor overall. Both do have a lot of similarities though. Choices choices.

If you have EDP and won't mind waiting for a little, I'm sure the CRG9 will go back on sale with EDP. It was $980 just about a week ago.

I've been reading about these mishaps...is this also happening with this latest model?

The last model I had was manufactured in August. First two in July. The manufacturing issues is part of the reason I'm waiting.

Can confirm I have the latest model and it still has the popping. Why they didn't use a thicker plastic is truly beyond me but even the online tricks of lowering the brightness to reduce the heat doesn't really help. The plastic still flex's some and makes a little crackling noise as it expands. You can mitigate it some by pinching the bottom corners of the monitor but still...stupid design.

That being said, it's an amazing monitor and you should get it.
