Lol

But seriously:

The blade is like 7 or 8 inches in diameter, so that "ham" in this picture is deceiving, because it is not a huge ham like what you see in a deli case.

For bacon, I'd think this is useful, IF you want a somewhat uniform thickness.

Yes, I have this, and got it for uniform cuts of ham.

The best results are when the ham is large, so the ham doesn't move around.

As you near the butt, it tends to get sloppy, because there's no back-plate to uniformly pressure the ham against the blade.

I have cross cut sliced bacon, about 1 "thick" for pan frying with pierogies.

Whatever you cut, feed the blade slowly .... complaints say the motor cannot handle the load, but I cannot imagine that to be problem if you aren't stupid.

Lastly:

The blade is sharp and unforgiving.

I've sliced myself a few times, and I'm no idiot (at least, I'd like to think I'm not).

My downfall is I try to get great slices from the butt, limiting waste. But that's simply not possible.

A man's got to know his limitations Wink

I'd say you should try it for your bacon, and return if it's not too your liking.

You're not going to get a better price than this, today.
Um...my name is Hobart
Yeeeeeppp.

I'm part Ukie, my mom made me learn how to make pierogies .... we call them Varenykie.

Have to use a non stick pan, LOW heat, otherwise the pierogies will stick to a ss pan.

..... fry the bacon, remove from grease, then saute chopped onions in that fat, then remove onions, saute pierogies, then combine all, plate, slap on some sour cream, open a beer, and prepare yourself for Epicurean Heaven 👼

Sadly, many frozen pierogies have very thick dough ..... there are a few Canadian companies that export great pierogies to The States .... difficult to find.

Many Polish and Ukranian churches sell frozen pierogies made by their parishioners, as a Charity for the church ...... so call their priest, and ask Wink

Lol, what are you, like 9 years old? Trying to decide whether this is worth it for the home smoked bacon I make about 6 times a year.

I've never found it worth it to drag out, set up, and then clean the slicer, and always end up reaching for a knife instead. Also, the meat keeps better if it hasn't been sliced ahead of time.
Though I'll admit that bacon is a special case.

I've had this one and returned it. Junk that is hard to clean and get good slices off of.

I have slicer as a deal alert and it's rare that there is a deal but it's always this one.

BlowkissHigh Five Cheers to all fellow Ukrainians!

On a side note: I always find it frustrating that even sometimes heritage Slavic speakers call them "Pierogies" when they should know better:
"Pierogi" is already plural.

If only it were a Hobart for that price. I guess these consumer grade models are ok in a pinch but I wouldn't waste any frustration on them having used commercial slicers for years.

Around here Hobart won't work on your stuff if you aren't a commercial account.

Aren't brand names or references to people typically based on last names?

Hobart seems like a conventional surname.
