I own this... You likely won't find better for this price. It is noticeably brighter than any of the sub $150 projectors you'd find on Amazon. Make no mistake though, it still needs to be basically dark to get a good image from this.

The only issue is no real keystoning and the way the unit is designed its meant to sit flat. So you have to raise it to the height needed for where you want it projected. Not a quick thing to setup on-the-fly if you want to maximize clarity and low distortion.

....that said, of you want a movie night and willing to figure out the best placement for dirt cheap - this is it.

Made a follow-up post with confirmation of specs.

As for the naysayers in this thread...What the ever loving **** are you doing in a 55 dollar projector thread? You obviously only think projectors have one use case and thats to be brighter than the sun. Since your view is so effing narrow, I can't fathom what your minuscule brains thought they would find in this deal, but it's pretty apparent you're insane.
What they meant for 'Portable' is easy to move/carry it from one place to the other. It does not have built in battery. I purchased this projector fron previous deal and returned it. FYI, projector has native 1080p, and if you keep your screen size to about 40 inch, it is quite watchable even with low ambient light. But it wasnt just enogh for me. If you really want portable projector, invest little more and get Xgimi Halo or Wemax Dice, highgly recommend it.

Good.luck finding the EXACT place to position your projector....it'll probably be right in your line of sight!
The projectors throw ratio means that the projector is at best beside you or behind. It is never going to be in your line of sight unless you are projecting a small image

I watched the youTube reviews before buying this, I must have gotten a dud because mine has awful contrast and brightness. I was going to use this in the back yard, but it is so bad I don't even want to do that. Mine is at least 50% worse than any of the youTube video's that were posted in this deal thread

i've tried all the adjustments and they don't even work, it has the exact same picture if I set anything to 0 or to 100 ( brightness, contrast, sharpness etc ) same for other settings ( video, standard, etc )

I tried the factory RESET two different times and that didn't change any of these problems.

Same here, I think that's how these things are designed and while I agree it's just $55, I am questioning if I would have been better off finding a used projector with better brightness on marketplace or other sites.

I think the problem is that marketing decided that they wanted to run wild with the sealed optical assembly feature (which has obvious advantages in any context) and over-optimistically widen the audience by describing it as "portable" and "outdoor".

I mean, in realty... the housing of the unit is neither particualrly rugged nor sealed from the elements. There is nothing to protect the lens and facilitate cleaning any more than just a regular exposed lens. I would be loathe to toss it in the back of the car to take this camping without putting it back in its shipping box. It is really no more portable than any other reasonably-sized projector short of one that needs to be installed on a ceiling. It is also freaking matte white with gold accents, not exactly meant to withstand outdoor duty and still look good. It is not bright enough to shine (heh) except indoors where you can control the lighting. Outside at night, you have to deal with streetlights, fire pits, patio lights, etc. Heck, a well-aligned full moon might mess with its image quality.

It has a long throw distance and no keystone correction, which makes this less-than-easy to use if you're putting together an outdoor viewing party (your projector will be next-to or behind your audience, and elevated off the ground somehow).

I won't say that I knew this all upfront, but outdoor use was only a small part of my total consideration because we have mosquitoes out here at night. It turned out that my primary application (bedroom in-bed-viewing right before I turn in) was perfect. Put it on a shelf opposite the wall/projection screen you intend to project onto. A Roku Express 4k+ can be nicely integrated onto it (on the back, but not covering the intake grille), and a full-sized set of earphones can be hung on the projector like a headphone stand.

I think if marketing was more on-point, they should've marketed this as a "personal projector". It is pretty perfect in this context and I'm fairly giddy about it.

My alternate application will happen this Halloween, where I will move this into the garage and rear-project flying ghosts onto the back of the frosted garage door windows.

The housing is rugged. I dropped the projector twice. Once from around 4 ft once from about 7 ft with no damage

It's because I'm not using a tripod and balancing it on various books to get a level image.

The advertisment of the sealed design is because often cheap projectors develop black dots because dust gets in behind the lens where you can't do anything about it. This solves that problem. Any dust on the front of the lens you can clean off

For $55.. I'm extremely happy with it. Put it in the bedroom and the gf and I watched 2 movies on the wall with a 76-inch picture. If i paid the full $200 I would probably have buyers remorse due to the brightness.

The sound is really good for what it is.

Someone said the USB port couldn't power their ruku stick, and I can't speak to that, but what I can speak to is that the USB port powers a Google TV with a USB Hub, with another hub and 2 usb flash drives.

Over all for $55 it's a win!

I said the USB port can power a Roku Express 4k+.

I'll also say that the rear of the V30SE has just the right amount of non-vent real estate to mount the Roku Express 4k+ as well.

(The back, because the top gets warm, while the rear area does not.)
