Please go easy on me as it's my first deal post. I was looking at purchasing this projector. This is the cheapest I've seen by a few hundred dollars compared to everyone else. Has good reviews everywhere as well along with no mention of rainbow effects you see on most single laser projectors.

Some of them are just people who don't know how to use a ultra short throw projector. One guy said projector sucks but was projecting on a wall and not a screen. Check out the reviews on projector central and projector screen reviews
It will look fine, but the challenge is mounting it perfectly so you don't have to use keystone correction. It's difficult enough siting on a console. You need to find a ceiling mount that has precise adjustability in all three axis. You'll need to flip the ALR screen also since UST ALR screens are designed to reject light from above. Plus you need to run wires down from the ceiling which defeats one of the advantages of a UST.
TL;DR It's doable but requires a lot of work. If your room allows for it go with a short throw (non-ultra) or standard throw.
This hasn't been funny in 10 years. Time to let it die.

I have a 1080p benq projector from couple years ago. Are 4k projectors a big upgrade over 1080p
I can appreciate the 4k tv but it has hdr/DV which are probably more important than additional pixels
A couple of years back when I moved to a new home, I set up the home theater and even though I had the 1080p BenQ one, I bought the 4K Epson, and yes, it's a big upgrade in terms of picture quality, and colors, but even at 4K there are lots of mid-range one, if you really want to enjoy getting the mid+ range you won't regret.
Also, it won't be any good if you buy a good 4K Projector and project on a wall, get a good projector screen. I purchased the Silver Ticket, you can also get Elite Screen too.
I have a 4K EPSON ceiling mount, so not planning to buy this, but my question is how would experience watching it in the Home theater in the dark, when the projecting beam is right in front of you all the time, also, that beam wouldn't be annoying when it is constantly changing colors and all.
You don't see a projected beam in the ceiling mount long throw projector.
No. You wouldn't see the beam at all. Not even 0.1% because it is laser unlike the bulb.

Oh that's great.
I guess my next upgrade will be a short throw and by that time 8K will be cheaper. But, I guess 8K is still not matured and not sure needed.
I game on 120" exclusively. Screen size doesn't matter in isolation, you need to consider viewing distance. 12-15' away on 120" is a great gaming experience.
Dolby has published specs on optimal seating position but the tl;dr is that you should be far away that you don't have to refocus your eyes to take in different areas of the screen.
geez i hope its not a first person shooting game....Projectors are horrible for gaming lag is insane ....yeah you get a nice big dull picture....but thats about it.
I purchased this model a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with the picture quality. 4k HDR content looks amazing using all the default profiles. I have this paired with the elite screens clr 3 .8 projection screen. Only issue I had was with sdr content being overly saturated, especially while watching sports. There was a color profile enabled by default called high dynamic contrast, which was set to high. Once I changed this to either low or off the image immediately looked natural and the colors were no longer overblown. I dialed in a few more adjustments to my liking and I am loving it so far. I considered returning this model for the formedia theater but after making these adjustments I cannot justify the 1200 increase.Picture is amazing.
This one also checks many boxes for me but I'm not doing it because its an LG. I recently had a $1300 38" LG Ultragear monitor go bad on me at just 2 years old. LG only offers a 1 year warrantee with no exceptions...so now its a dead paperweight. If this projector had a 3 year warrantee like the Benq, then I'd be all over it. The price fluctuates by $100 on and off all the time on Amazon. Don't forget to factor in an ALR screen which will be over $600 depending on size. I've been considering a benq i3000x instead. Just can't decide if its worth $2k or to spend more on UST.
I just had a similar experience with Sony. Had a Sony 75" x90j panel go bad in 1.5 years and it only has a 1 year warranty. Sony said sorry nothing we can do but if you like you could visit our website and order a new one. No thanks Sony I'll buy Samsung from now on.
I don't see how DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Smart Projectors won't drop to the $500 range in a couple of years. Unlike large screen TVs, these projectors are considerably easier to ship and produce due to their compact size and fewer fragile components. This ease of production and transportation, combined with the rapid advancements in display and projection technology, will inevitably lead to reduced costs. As market competition increases and more consumers adopt these projectors for both home entertainment and office use, economies of scale will further drive down production costs. The introduction of new, alternative technologies in the projection market will also encourage companies to reduce prices to remain competitive. In light of these factors, we can anticipate a significant price drop for DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Smart Projectors, making them a more accessible and attractive option for a wider audience.
I have a dedicated theater room with a 1080p JVC (RS55) I set up about 7 years ago. But I've used the room maybe once in the last 6 months. IMO there just aren't many good movies being released these days to take advantage of a theater room.

Don't forget, Texas Instruments hood has the patent on dlp chips, until it runs out I'm sure they won't get super cheap. Plus a good ALR screen on top of the projector. I do think they'll get better and less $, but not until folks who want 100-120" screen can buy an LED tv that big for a lot less than they can now.
Get the AWOL lower priced one for $2300. Using it right now. So sharp. Only downside is no Dolby vision. The new movies all seem to have Dolby vision. Well I don't what I am missing anyways.

is there a reason you recommend the AWOL over this one? or just blindly recommending it because you have that one and haven't seen this one in person?
