I purchased one of these for $60 several weeks ago. I am very happy with it. To address some of the questions and comments from earlier in the thread:

It is metal and it does not have any fans. It runs silent and stays cool.
I have 4 IP CAMs, 1 smart doorbell and 1 tablet connected to it without any problem. The tablet is using POE to keep itself charged. The power draw on each of the 6 ports w/ POE devices connected ranges from 2 watts - 8 watts.
When powered up with nothing connected it draws only 3 watts, so it is very power efficient.

In contrast, the 8-port POE switch that I was using before this one draws 9-watts at idle, has a fan that I upgraded because the stock fan was too loud and ran warmer than this one does.

You can power cycle the individual POE ports from the switch's management console -- a very helpful feature.

I was thinking about ordering a second one and when I saw the $40 price, so I jumped on it.

Hope this helps.

Amazon has for $39.99 ($59.99-$20 coupon) right now:

metal is important b/c it helps dissipate heat. when you get plastic, that shit when left on for endless hours, days and years can heat up and warp not only the plastic but cause the parts inside to overheat.

metal on the other hand will allow the device to cool

it's why heatsinks are made of metal and not plastic Stick Out Tongue

Agree pretty cheap but bottom of the barrel wattage. You are not going to get much connected to this. Maybe a max of four cameras, VOIP phones, or wifi AP's but that's about it unless they are non POE.

Yes, it's all about the numbers. For some people with just a couple cams or AP's it's probably as cheap as it gets and will work just fine. I need a 16 port with 4 POE+ for like less than $100 just because I hate having so many switches strung around but alas they do not exist.

Why is metal important?

I got this one with 8 POE ports and 120 watts. It's not gigabit though

I think I have this exact model, maybe an older version, for a few years now. It's been running great with no issues. It does get a bit toasty to the touch.
