There are 3 main things to keep in mind to achieve consistent shots:
- Adjust the inner grinder level (Go to YouTube, head to this guy's channel - Aju's Cafe, and find his series on Breville's low pressure level). You'll find more explanations from him, but basically, the outer grinder level settings were not sufficient for me. I increased my inner level by 2 extra settings.
- The freshness of coffee beans is one of the primary factors that affect pressure levels. Fresher beans result in higher pressure, and vice versa. So, if I buy a bag of coffee beans and know they're fresh, I'll keep the grinder level coarser because the freshness already provides sufficient pressure. Then, as I reach the end of the bag, I can adjust it to be finer to achieve higher pressure (adjust outer levels only, keeping my inner level the same). Each time, you should only adjust +/- 1 level and observe when the pressure bar reaches your desired level. This, also is the reason why I only buy 1 bag of coffee at a time, and don't forget to check the roasted date on bag.
- One more thing, try to descale/clean the machine frequently (once every 6 months) to avoid mineral buildup.
I hope that helps. I still consider this one of the best purchases I've ever made.

This is a great machine though still practicing frothing.
Unfortunately I cannot help you with that. I drink only espresso drinks.

Moccamaster is the best. There should be a setting for half pour or full pour. Otherwise they make smaller sizes. Otherwise a 16 oz pour over is super easy to do manually.
It's a great machine, but TBH a nice grinder is going to be $250+ by itself. If you think I'm crazy, let's see you try to "dial in" a coffee bean, wait two days, and try to pull the same cup again with this thing. The large steps just dont cut it, especially if you're extracting a really light roast!
