It's commonly referred to as "gamestop new". Opened, gutted, sometimes not even the original case, and usually contained fingersmudges from the people who put the discs into the case... but that's new because nobody has purchased it before (?). Kind of like working at a car dealership and test driving a car for 10k miles and then selling it as new. You have to expect it, but this is a good price used. I did fairly well with my clearance new games. 2 actually new, and a bunch of others with the case, and only two disc only, which will be returned. I expect it, but I still don't understand the logic of gutting the cases. Oh well.

The last preorder I did with Gamestop was Dragon Ball xenoverse 2. When I got there to pick up my copy. The dude proceeded to grab an already open game, which he had to take the disc out of a paper sleeve and put into the case. Turns out, the dude gave me the copy the employees took home prior to release. When I said something, he quickly said it's brand new, and it's the only copy they have left. I was like, dude, I preordered this damn game and it's supposed to be unopened. He wouldn't even give me a discount. Disc had fingerprints all over the bottom too. Haven't preordered a game from them since.

Yeah, it's very frustrating. They are going by the "if it hasn't been sold, it's new" definition, which is only how scammers look at it. If it's out of the package, it's not new. I agree with you and most people out there. I will only buy from them if it's something that I can life with as cart/disc only, because that's generally what I expect from them.
