Looking for a good gaming laptop for my kid and has enough power to run a lab for me. Any good recommendations? I guess anything with an HX processor, 32GB+ RAM and at least a 4060, for under $800?
That hp Envy looks very good, or am I missing something?
You did. 1080p with 250 nits. I will say always look at the screen quality first - that is where the entire compromise is. These types of screen is found on 300 dollar laptops... not taking other factors like cpu or graphics into account.

Note that it also uses a barrel power plug, instead of USB-C.
For me personally, that's a deal-breaker. Hate those proprietary barrel plugs.
A vast majority of modern laptops that ship with a proprietary plug also charge with USB C. They just come with a barrel plug for fast(er) charging. For example I'm typing this up on a laptop I have not touched the included barrel charger since the day I bought the laptop. Charges just fine using my Steam Deck charger or my work laptop's USB C power brick.
Now, I think it is silly that barrel plugs are even still made for laptops in 2023. I can't imagine how it is cost effective when manufacturers could just streamline production to USB C only.
Wanted to trade in my MacBook Pro but the stupid BB website trade in section doesn't have MY model. SO dumb. and the rep in the chat said oh well we can't accept it then. It's a 2020 model with M1 chip. Idiots

You will have to add the RAM yourself but that is doable with the Black Friday deals. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/giga...Id=65548

Most of those were black friday deals and are dead already. There is a 2-in-1 dell inspiron 16 right now for 699.99, but it only has hdmi 1.4.
