Yes, you should ask for the 50% off and they should give it to you for 50% off. By the way, only the AT&T representatives can sell the phone. They work until 4pm at the target store. Go before 4pm or else you might not get it. Basically the target workers are not allowed to sell AT&Ts stock of phones so you have to have a representative sell it to you.

There was just a deal at Walmart (three weeks ago ) for an at&t 13 @ $299. No contract. Port out to USM within 3 days (via esim) to avoid activation fee and to enjoy 50-day free trial.
I think almost every target store have AT&T reps. This was a black Friday deal but it's still going for another few days. I would go to your local target store and check if they have it. And btw you don't need to trade in or do anything. It's just like buying a new phone from like apple.
