I use Taurus SC [domyown.com] (Suspended Concentrate) to treat the perimeter and openings/cracks on my home about twice a year (Spring & Summer) and it works amazingly. It was the only way I could kill the ants that infested my home 4 years ago when I first moved into the property. It will also prevent and kill wasps nests if you spray the roof eaves of your home.
IMO you shouldn't bother with anything else for home perimeter treatment as Taurus SC is super effective and the best bargain IMO. It cost's around $50 but one bottle will last you around 4 years when treating the outside of a 1500SQFT house twice a year.
Just respect the power of Taurus SC and you should be good to go. IE always wear a n95 mask, gloves, goggles and never spray on a windy day. Be careful not to spray any flowering plants around your home as well as it will kill/decimate the local bee population.

Taurus SC works on termites as well... highly recommended
