For those of you wondering about how the trade is credited (to your account or to your original form of payment) the answer is here https://www.spectrum.net/support/...ogram-faqs in Spectrum's FAQs.

It states: " How do I get my trade-in payment?
After your device is processed, you'll receive a credit for the assessed value. If you've paid for your new device in full, the trade-in credit will be refunded to your credit card within two billing cycles. Otherwise, a monthly credit will be applied to your Device Payment Plan in equal parts over the duration of the plan, starting within two billing cycles.
Additional details will be provided in your trade-in email from Assurant."

If your device is paid in full it is supposed to go back to your credit card. I have done 4 of these and on all 4 they credited my Spectrum account, however each time a very short phone call with CS resulted in the credit going to my CC.

If you need a $40 trade-in phone for this deal:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Straig...2435291724

If above phone not available, here is a $50 phone for trade-in deal:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Tracfo.../456429801

WARNING
Make sure to turn it on and see if your phone can activate. Walmart is not properly scanning these phones and trade ins are getting denied because of anti-theft. Buy these phones in store if you can! try to activate online and if error take the whole phone box package to store and have them rescan and reissue back to you or get replacement. check to make sure IMEI of "new" device can be activated online before you leave store

if above can't fix your problem then do the following:

1. Reach out to straight talk CS and ask them to escalate with issuing ticket
2. They will tell you to do the following: Email [email protected] with name, contact number, ticket number (this is created by chat agent) and attach receipt proof and picture of IMEI (I took a picture of the card that has the IMEI and sim card number on it).
3. You should get email about 24-48 hours later that it can now be activated
4. If they ask you to activate with phone plan then buy this $15 plan and give them the PIN and other relevant information they ask for

https://www.target.com/p/tracfone...A-87908383

Takes roughly 15 minutes to come in after purchase to hit email.

5. If they didn't ask to activate on tracfone then visit https://www.straighttalk.com/acti...ng.phoneno and see if you can activate phone (no IMEI error)

6. Insert sim if not already in, turn off phone and turn back on. Make a test call. If call won't go through wait 5 minutes. You'll probably get some texts from Tracfone and calling should work. They suggest to turn off and on again if not, but I didn't need to.

$25 at Amazon: (slow shipping)

Store trade-in is YMMV
  • Most stores will uphold the promotion - if not, go to a different store
  • Device usually needs to be in stock - some stores will ship if not in stock
  • Stock is usually low and sells out fast - may need to try more than once
  • Higher storage options are usually not available in stores - only online
  • Tax is dependent on state - some charge MSRP, some charge discounted price
  • Doing too many trade in in short amount of time might get your account flagged - only online is available then

I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

Called to cancel my service, will terminate next months since new billing cycle happened. Just said going to my family plan so no hassle.

Then i requested to get transferred to another department about the trade in money getting refunded back to my credit card. Had to confirm and will be refunded in a few days to my credit card. The agent was like wow got top of the line phone for $300 lol. Thanks OP, just going to use my visible line and use this as a fun phone(transfer esim back and forth)

So I called to unlock , and was denied.

Do we need to keep the phone active on account for 60days ?
I activated the phone and then remove it from account and used iPhone and after 60 days when I asked to unlock the device they are denying that.
Did you activate Samsung phone back on the line before asking for unlock? I think you may need to do that.

What do you mean activate the phone back to the line? If I use physical sim card, can I simply insert the sim card back to the phone I want to unlock? Thanks.

First time I've heard where they can't evaluate the device...did they lose it or something??

Once they send the check, I doubt you would need the active service to cash it in, but have no idea while the line is cancelled. I know for most wireless service, they still give you credits and stuff if they owe you balance.

It wasn't exactly clear what happened. The box was either empty when it arrived, or they lost it in the warehouse. I guess I might just have to pay for a couple of extra months to make sure I get the credit...

I would at least ask an ETA of when they will send the check. It's ridiculous that you have to wait for their mistake.

For your protection, we are unable to perform unlock requests through mobile chat. You would need to go into a store with an ID to unlock the device, thank you for your corporation.

What in tarnation!?

I had one rep on chat autoreply that due to overwhelming demand, unlocks had to be called in. I didn't even argue. Just disconnected, and the next rep unlocked with no problems.

When you call to cancel the line, I know it doesn't cancel right away since you still have to pay the last billing cycle but do they send you anything saying that line will be canceled? They just told me the line of service will continue to be active until end of the cycle and this is the last payment but didn't receive anything else like an email stating cancelation. Also online mobile tabs look the same, nothing noting cancellation. Do I just trust that it'll cancel before the next billing starts?

Pretty much, on the same boat. Funny thing is, my autopay is charged recently including my lines that will be cancelled. Their system is really a mess, can't see the previous billing chargers, I would assume once the lines cancelled, they will roll over those cancelled credits, but I don't need those credits anymore since I will cancelled the remaining lines, so might have to give them a final call to have the left over credits to refund back to my credit card.

How do they calculate 60 days? From when they activate the line or after I turn on the phone? I waited some days and they charged the fee before I turned the phone on.

I think when you receive the email saying the Sim card on that line has been switched to your new device. That's when the system finally recognized the device and started the clock.

it's actually the date of the phone got activated.---in store trade in of course, not sure about doing via online.

I opened the new account on 2/17 with trade ins, but on 2/20, traded in again 2x24 to 1x24+ and 1x24U, today I tried to unlock the phones, they said I can't unlock both phones until 4/20 for a full 60 days and they counted starting on 2/20 in my case.
