I have given in my previous 2-3 posts very clear numbers. I have given my system cost, my city driving, my alternate driving if not for the EV and my home electricity cost. I also conservatively priced the gas at $3 per gallon; when in reality it was way above that for most part of 2023. Also, Solar panels retain about 90% of their production 20 years. Even in a worst case scenario they would be 80% at year 20, which is still producing way more electricity than what you state.
A quick add here - Only extreme Fools will Lease a PV system, or even Finance their PV system with small bank loans. Also, Fools will install it at a cost which is higher than what Tesla PV system costs for the same capacity. When you shop around local installers and compare to the Tesla's per Watt price for PV system you get the real cost. If you rely on those sales people that stop by your home then you are paying about 3 times what you should be paying.
Anyways, like I said above, you live with your own evaluations and reasonings. I, being an extremely analytical person, got quotes from 10 different installers, emailed and talked to the panel manufacturers, ran my numbers prior to installation (already received my rebate) and I would come out on top in another 2+ years with my EV driving. After that all the savings of not filling gas and my home electricity usage are my own to keep.
Trying to figure the best SD way to do solar, off the street deals don't seem great as it seems. Would like to know some tips/leads based on your experience.. can DM you.
And there aren't any issues with panels nowadays. With the latest technology the panels will last for 25+ years with production at 85% after 25 years from installation. The utility and money savings they bring in all those years and beyond is huge, compared to the price of the panels. They also increase the price of the house since the new owner will pay next to nothing for their electricity bills. And if your state adds to the Federal rebate then it's truly a no brainer since the break even time is even less.
For my personal condition, the break even time without my EV was about 8 to 9 years of the cost per kw of electricity did not rise in those 9 years; less if it rose. With EV charging at home it went down to about 4 years since I'm driving about 1400 miles per month of city driving and since I didn't have my EV for the first year of solar panel system ownership. If the cost of electricity per kw were to rise within these 4 years of break even period, Or if the cost of gas were to rise within this time, then it will go down further by a few months.
Apart from saving about $3800 per year, the true satisfaction is seeing the real value of green energy being produced by an as natural phenomenon as sunlight, every single day of the year. I can monitor all my production and consumption every day. The solar electric production powers almost 90% of my driving and 90% of my home electricity needs, and mine isn't even a very massive system by any means.
What company did your solar?
I went with e local installer.
Panels were from REC, which warranties their own panel for 25 years irrespective of who you use for service. So your installer could be bankrupt but REC will pay any installer to service the panels
they are not accounting for taxes/fees
or calculated residual value of the lease,/ interest
all hidden
a dealership demanding 4k down or any down
is a scam
the fact is even if it is 225 a month add another 100-150 a month depending on credit
You can pm me for my sales associate. I don't want to put him on blast lol. I don't get anything from the referral.
